Thank you CBill. It is wonderful how much work has been done on it. I believe I registered to post on it, because of some wrong Priory dates. Anyway, thanks. The fans shewa and sherry who are taking care of updating are doing a tremendous job. I really appreciate how nice it looks too. I am sure Susan's Team like it also. Thank you Shewa and Sherry!

I like thinking Irish since the grandniece's grandfather was pure Irish so they can "major" in one nationality.
Yes, it is common for the place of birth to determine ones nationality. Pl........I was born in London, so I am English by birth, but was relocated to Scotland when I was just three months old and have lived here ever since, so I consider myself an honorary Scot but I am still regarded as an Englishman.

Susan's Maternal Grandparents were Irish and that seems to have been where the newspapers made their common error in attributing her parents as being Irish.

Susan's parents were both born in Lanarkshire.

Thanks, Stevie. How about Susan's father's parents and grandparents? Does the Boyle name usually hold to any particular nationality. I guess there are very few pureblood humans. I've been around horses too long.

Thank you Tommy and Bill. I have now included links in the first post of this thread. I will continue to add more links as I find them.

I remember an article from a long time ago that said where Bridgett and Patrick were born in Scotland. I've been trying to google search from the archives, but no luck in finding this article. Does anyone remember that article? It would be helpful to have proof on wiki in case the change is contested.

shewa, there are so many 'biographies' claiming Susan's parents were Irish! And so little about where they were actually born.

Interestingly, one can see where the correct info was provided re the birthplace (and marriage place!) of Susan's parents on this wiki 'talk' page:
(under the title SUSAN BOYLE ARTICLE): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3A...oyle/Archive_2

As for articles stating the truth, this one does:
    QUOTE:
Although it has been widely reported that her parents were Irish immigrants from Donegal, a check at the General Register Office for Scotland, in Edinburgh, shows the truth is closer to home.
Both her parents, Bridget McLaughlin and Patrick Boyle, were born in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, in October 1915 and April 1916 respectively.
Her maternal grandparents, John and Mary McLaughlin, married in Londonderry – “Derry” in the 1914 marriage certificate – show that John was a tramcar driver but the records stop there.
And her paternal grandparents, Mary and Patrick Boyle, a private in the Scottish Rifles, married in Motherwell in 1915.
The certificate records their parents as Patrick and Jane Riley and Patrick and Ann Boyle. END QUOTE

Thank you CBill. That's the proof I need. I made the change, but I'll also reference this article.

You're welcome, and thank you for fixing it - nice to have the facts somewhere since Susan is 'proud to be Scottish'.

Another reference to a degree is in her own autobiography - on Page 15 QUOTE: my parents originally came from Motherwell, a larger industrial town on the outskirts of Glasgow.
