Default Open Letter to SBFII Board of Directors:

As an active member of the SBFII Forum, I continue to be quite concerned with the decreased functionality of the Forum, which has been comprised since the last week of September resulting in the presence of Hostgator’s “Grinning Gator” blocking access to many pathways within the Forum.

There seems to be an unwillingness to openly and honestly discuss why this has happened and exactly what and when the fix is to occur. It’s as though if the problem is not talked about, then no one will notice and actions will not have to be taken to fix it. Those that understand the problem say nothing substantial about it but just a short “Oh My” – leaving the other members of SBFII struggling completely in the dark.

Since SBFII is a fansite, owned as well as operated, by fans of Susan Boyle, ALL the fans deserve a complete and honest answer including an explanation of the how and why of the lengthy residency of the Grinning Gator on the Forum. AND the Board must formulate plans on when and how the Forum will be restored to complete functionality and the Gator no longer fouling our nest. Those plans must be put into action sooner rather than later. By the Board meeting on January 16, it will have been almost FOUR MONTHS of the Gator’s residency within SBFII – an exceptionally long time to allow the reduction in the functionality of SBFII to exist without rectifying the problem.

PLEASE make this a very important topic at your Board Meeting on Saturday, January 16, 2016 and take whatever steps necessary to eradicate the Gator from the SBFII Forum.

Well said, Lucy. If these people are incompetent, why are we paying them?

I understand there have been explanations in the past. Something about , switching to another provider will mess up our archives or things in our very complicated and elaborate site. Isn't it more important to have things run smoothly in the future? If we have to simplify Paul Woods original concept, so be it. He is long gone. It is getting out timely news and comment about Susan's ongoing career that's important. This is not an archeological dig.

At this time, Judy is the only one with the expertise to tackle the technical problems and to work with HostGator to solve the issues. I'll let her respond further about these issues.

We will discuss this at the next Board meeting, hopefully with JudyOkla in attendance. (She often comes, but if she can't make it, she submits her report in writing.) If we need to, we'll schedule another Board meeting in the near future where she can attend because we are also looking at doing a mid-year bylaw revision that needs her input and probably another meeting.

Trennie, while there may be many threads that can be closed or deleted at this point to reduce the memory we use, I think a lot of the archived content is important to many people. It would be a shame to lose it if we don't have to, but we will need to be realistic in the future.

As it stands now the archived threads can't be accessed anyway.
Unfortunately, as far as I know, Judy might be the only person left with enough techie skills to try to get it fixed.

I hope not. Suppose she gets sick.

I certainly understand the frustration voiced by LucyB and others. I find some of the tools very useful that are presently not available. Since switching back to a shared server with Hostgator, we have no access to the Search function, the New Posts link, and the Find All Posts link on members profile page.

In addition, my access to some behind the scenes controls has been limited, including contacting Hostgator to fix this problem. I know Judy is aware of the issues but I don't know what the bottom line problem is.

    Arrow On Another Issue...

I've not been able to see even my own posts & threads via my User Profile to search through them. Is anybody else having the same problem?

Since I only read and post here, I have no problem with the Gator at the present time. It pays to be technically challenged. When I saw posts about the Gator , I just assumed Susan was planning to have a big moment, as that is when old Gator shows up for me...Sorry others are having problems. .Also sorry that we don't know that Susan is planning a big moment......lol
