When Susan Boyle's manager, Andy Stephens, spent time with some of her fans at a Fan Meet in London, England, he told them Susan was inundated daily with offers and requests to appear on various shows, etc. It is interesting to see what Susan's choices are - in particular, when it comes to charity, and supporting community events.

In the years since Britain's Got Talent in 2009, Susan has spent an impressive amount of time 'giving back'. Following is a look at events Susan has chosen to be involved in one way or another in the short time since she's become famous.

These are of course, only the times when Susan's name, face and/or presence is involved and she must neccessarily 'make news' to help a cause. What she does privately we will never know, which is how she prefers it.

A charity near and dear to Susan's heart is St Josephs Service. Susan has requested fans who are thinking of sending a gift to her consider donating to this Charity instead. As a result of Susan's expressed wish, here are some of the donations made in Susan's name by SBFII:
Apr 2011 £400 St. Josephs Rosewell
Apr 2013 $1,500.00 to the West Lothian chapter of the MacMillan Cancer Fund
Dec 2013 $825 to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children
Apr 2014 £500 to Blackburn Children's Gala Day
May 2015 £518 to MacMillan Cancer Support
Jan 2016 $700 to MacMillan Cancer Support
Apr 2017 $675.00 donated to St Joseph's Service

In 2013, in lieu of birthday gifts to herself, Susan Boyle expressed appreciation of any donations made to the following charity:
    MacMillan Cancer Support

In 2014, Susan chose the Blackburn Childrens' Gala Day as the charity of her choice for the financial donation from the forum for her Birthday.

For Christmas, 2015 Susan again chose MacMillan Cancer Support. (Her sister Bridie passed away from cancer in October, 2015.)

On July 19, 2013, Susan Boyle became one of the earliest Scottish 'stars' to speak out for the 'NO' side with regards to the Independence referendum - long before many others spoke up. Whether one agrees with her choice or not, it was a bold and fearless move - because she spoke from her heart, without regard to 'upsetting fans' who did not share her view, and how that might impact her career. On July 5, 2014, this tweet and image in appreciation:

On Sept 13, 2014, shortly before the vote, Susan spoke out even more boldly, writing an opinion piece for The Mirror in which she reaffirmed her choice to Vote No, and why. Some Scottish 'stars' refused to say how they were voting for fear of hurting their careers, but Susan put country first.
