Hi, GeliWho!!! Welcome to our happy "family" of Susan Boyle fans. Some of us have been here from the day after her BGT audition when the fan site opened, and others have found us more recently. There is an absolute treasure of Susan stuff here and, in my opinion, an absolute treasure of lovely and fun people.

They come, they come, to build a wall between us...we know they won't win." Don't dream it's over.

Originally posted by JayBea View PostHi Folks! allow me to reintroduce myself, JayBea is the name and I have been a member of this fan site since late 2009. I'm a longterm lurker and have made five posts. I don't want to fill the fan site pages with nonsense. Despite my lack of input I admire enormously every thing Susan has achieved since that fateful night on BGT, but I'm not a real fan, there I've said it, I've come out of the closet. I admire her voice, the way she can change the age of her voice e.g. Mad World, her sense of humour, her humility, well everything except, takes deep breath before continuing, except her choice of music, far too many slow tunes for my liking, but more on that subject later.
I may not be a true fan of Susan's but I'm a fan of this fan site, I think I can lay claim to being the site's only 'groupie'. I'm a daily visitor to get all the latest news on Susan, and there are no shortage of correspondents to keep me up to date. I marvel at CB's posters, and like CB I have Paint Shop Pro so I try to figure out how he has achieved certain effects. Tweek's buttons are a delight to behold. In fact this fan site is populated by very talented people. I specialise in lurking myself.
Back to the choice of music that Susan sings. I have no sense of adventure when it comes to music so Susan's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow left me cold, why change a perfectly good melody, it wasn't broke. Unchained Melody was never a favourite of mine, she sang it even slower than the original, and there are other songs that don't appeal which don't come readily to mind. So what do I like? 'Susan Sings Cole Porter' that I would buy. His lyrics are magical and melodies are memorable. Shut your eyes and hear Susan singing 'In the Still of the Night' as a beguine, up the tempo a bit for 'Anything Goes' then slow it down again for 'Night and Day'. There's no charge for all this BTW. How about Irvin Berlin or Jerome Kern, you get my drift. Cover songs sung by Billie Holiday. Like I said, I've no sense of adventure. One last addition, she has to sneak in 'Fame' somewhere, I'm with RIK on this. It's only a song, and Susan sings songs.
So there you have it, JayBea's take on the musical world of Susan Boyle. You can tell by the spelling that I'm from the UK, though I haven't lived there for forty years, I'm as far away from the UK as I can get. I used to live in Edinburgh but never travelled on the A6 (I think I'm correct) that would have taken me to Blackburn.
Just in case you are wondering, I'm a fella, and I lived through the abdication of Edward Vlll. I'll leave you to do the sums.

Hello All,
I am a new member, first post.
I greet you all from Indiana, USA.
I have been a fan of Susan's since she first burst on the scene in 2009, wasn't it? I was wowed by her voice as most of us were.
Most recently, Susan's video of "Unchained Melody" randomly came across my feed. It gave me goosebumps as she lept to those big notes with ease. The entire video 'spoke' to me.
I find Susan honest and endearing. I hope she knows how wonderful she is. I have said, she is a 'treasure.' She is.
I was happy to find this forum by following along Susan's part in The Glamis Prom. The Glamis Prom was new to me- but I enjoyed the bits of what I could see.
Thank you all for your help getting me to your forum.Last edited by Cecelia4Susan; 07-17-2017, 12:56 PM.

Welcome Cecelia4Susan! Glad you found us!
If you go to the top page of the Forum, in the light blue bar, you will find 'Main' -- click on it and it will take you to the Main site (separate from the Forum). I just finished adding a lot of pictures, and three videos, from the Glamis Prom (I'm waiting for word from wasforgas -- a Forum member who was there -- to include 'The Impossible Dream').
BTW, love your avatar!
