Yes, I'd MUCH prefer that one to the one used for the musical.

Thanks, Bill. That was my instinct, too. I am sure that there are many photos taken by fans that would be appropriate, especially the more recent ones.
I am not that au fait with all of this Wikipedia stuff, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Don't know anymore than you do Stevieboy, re Wiki. Did look up photo rights and it says this:

"Guidelines for images and other media files
Images, photographs, video and sound files, like written works, are subject to copyright. Someone holds the copyright unless they have been explicitly placed in the public domain. Images, video and sound files on the internet need to be licensed directly from the copyright holder or someone able to license on their behalf. In some cases, fair use guidelines may allow them to be used irrespective of any copyright claims; see Wikipedia:Non-free content for more.

Image description pages must be tagged with a special tag to indicate the legal status of the images, as described at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Untagged or incorrectly-tagged images will be deleted.

Questions about media copyright may be directed to Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, which is generally staffed by volunteers familiar with Wikipedia's media copyright guidelines and policies."

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...er_media_files

To use a Charlie Gray photo would definitely require permission, but Moll mentioned trying to get it - never hurts to ask!

Someone needs to update this immediately and thoroughly. Why does she need all this emphasis on her "disability" and "fragility". Those people do not need articles from the 2009 tabloid press when they can just look her up on Wiki and see how "pitiable" she is!

Is there someone who can take responsibility for keeping that page updated and focussed on her fabulous accomplishments?

I actually removed that paragraph once over a year ago and someone restored it saying it was unjustly removed. I tried, but it didn't seem to work. I don't get their rules.

edit to add: I'll try again. I noticed the original source for that paragraph is no longer a valid link. It was removed and I would guess for good reason. I will remove the wiki entree again and leave my reason's. Hopefully it will stick this time.

                Thank you Shewa.

And if it's possible, could you also replace the photo with something more up-to-date?

Photos on Wiki are very tricky - clicking on the current photo of Susan on Wiki will give you a clue what I mean.....

There can be no copyright issues with the photo. This is the Wiki Commons page for Susan Boyle images, there are only two and the second is a painting.

wasforgas took some beauties of Susan on stage at the concert, (they're in her Videos and Photos of Edinburgh Concert thread) but I don't know what would be involved in getting them allowed for 'Wiki Commons'.

I was just coming back to say the same thing. I don't own a personal picture of Susan. If someone has a good picture, they can join wiki and upload her picture. It can then be used for Susan's Wiki page.

WFG would need to provide a release to whomever's posting the pix for Mr. Wales' Lawyers to bless. There are a number of photos on Wikipedia I've seen over the years I think are copyrighted, i.e. some of the aviation pix were taken out of publications I've read over the decades, unless somebody on Wiki's staff spots them they could be up for years.

                              • Bill, this photo is beautiful. You are so good at this stuff. There are so many clear shots of Susan's face from WFG's videos, could you post some more screen caps from those?
