  • We Bought Susan's Book - Where, When, What We Said

Very much enjoyed a thread like this about Susan's cd release last year. Lots of hilarious stories and touching moments.

After calling my Target (didn't have) and Walmart (disconnected me after 5 minutes on hold) I called B&N and confirmed they had it. Tore out (as they had only 5!!)

What did I say? Nicely told Target they were missing the boat. Then let M&G know that 5 books on the New Arrivals table was just plain inadequate and that when they see the name "Susan Boyle" they had better be prepared. The sales gal agreed heartily. The guy looked very puzzled. So folks, there are still people out there who need the message. Go and be blessed with success my friends!

Good idea. I am leaving in a minute. I don't think I will wait to call. My B & N is seven minutes from here. Opens in like 14 minutes (LOL) I am not obsessed or anything, right??

Forgot to mention that when I checked out I got the whole sales pitch to try out their electronic reader device (only $199.00 EEK!) because you can download zillions of books and even read it in bed. Better resolution than a computer he says. At the pitch "It is so much cheaper than buying books..." I had to share with him that this is the FIRST hardcover book I have ever bought at a book store. He laughed but I don't think was happy that I asid "that's what garage sales are for."

Since I live in Podunk, I ordered from Amazon back in April. and I did the happy dance all alone in front of my computer. I will be receiving it any day now.
Everything works out in the end. If it hasn't worked out, it's not the end.

+JMJ This morning went to WalMart, hoping the book would be out by 7 a.m. as I had been told the vendor comes in at 6 a.m. on Tuesdays. Got there at 7:15 a.m. and lo and behold, there were boxes but no book and no vendor. On the box was a list and the clerk and myself went through it - Susan's book not listed. Still the person could not be located so as lady-like as could be, started to open the boxes and yes, it was in there. Grabbed two, thanked the clerk and dashed out. What a surprise the vendor is going to be when he's two books short. I probably should have left him a note.

I since started the book and have had to lay it down already to get a highlighter, post-its, and the tissue box ...
              Peace and blessings!

I've ordered mine from Amazon and hopefully will get it by tomorrow. I went to the store this a.m. and bought some TV dinners to feed the family for when it arrives. They're going to have to eat them or go without!

I'm leaving in a few minutes to go to Costco - regular Tuesday trip, then Wal-Mart. Will let you know the results later.

I preordered mine through Kindle and had it downloaded at 3:00 am. I stayed up past six reading it this morning and am now extremely tired, in a good way.

Yes, my mission for the day was to get my copy of "THE" book. I went to Costco and found the woman unloading boxes of new books. No Susan. She said she had 6 trucks of new books to put out today and didn't know when she would find them. So, off to Indigo. After asking the clerk, she went to the back room and came back with an armful of the books. They were set out at list price, $29.99, plus taxes. I decided to try somewhere else. Next stop was Walmart. In their New Book section they featured the old Alice M paperback book. That was pretty hopeless so I went to Coles where again the book was out for full price. Well, in the end I did buy it at Zellers where they had it featured at 25% off. The Amazon prices seem to be the best, but I want it NOW! I'll get some more copies soon but for now I can't wait to dig in.

My UPS man delivered mine to my office by 10 am this morning. It is sitting next to my computer where all my customers can see it when they walk in. Will not get a chance to crack it open here, but will bring it home tonight! Maybe I should keep it with me so I can put it down next to the computer at work so customers can keep seeing it. They all comment on my Susan CD, the cover of which is always on top of my scanner next to my desk

Got it at 9:05 am- people were standing outside the B & N in Manhattan Beach waiting for them to open the door. I feared that they might be subo fans- who knows? So i kind of stood right at the Door- when the woman opened with the key, even before she got the door open I blurted out "I need the new Susan Boyle book"-- hahahahahaha
They had a very nice display in new non fiction right in front of the store, and it is a big store- with her book stood up with copies underneath it, next to a new book on Bob Dylan. There were five displayed, but the clerk told me when I asked they had like 50 more in the back.
Got myself a breakfast biscuit and iced coffee at Mickey D's on way home. Going to read. Looks like it can easily be read in a few hours- but it depends- will let you know later.
