  • Open Letter to SBFII Board of Directors, April 9, 2016

    April 9, 2016

To: SBFII Board of Directors and Administrators via Private Message: Counic, Entropydecides, Fanfromgeorgia, Internigt, Kathleen 0767, Lauraj210, MGinLA, JudyOkla, Truusbuist

Wellllll....... it’s now been 6 MONTHS and 2 WEEKS----that’s ½ a year!!! plus 2 weeks the Grinning Gator has been an unwanted resident of our SBFII site.

That’s an awfully long time for a problem to remain unresolved – leaving all of us to slog along dealing with the reduced functionality of the site as best as we can. The “New Posts” function does NOT work, so new posts are only listed in Listed Posts section and not accumulated and shown by threads where the new post appears. The “Search” function does NOT work, so there is no way to go back into the massive bank of Susa-information that has accumulated.

Are there some decisions to be made about how best to continue the site for all of us Susa-fans???? Will it work better if the accumulated mass of Susa-information is reduced?? Will it work better if the structure of the site were simplified??? Are there some questions that should be put to the active members for their thoughts and comments???? Again I ask, why the silence about the problem??? ALL the active members of SBFII are affected in one way or another. We all should be privy to an honest discussion of the parameters of the problem and what is being done to solve it.

At the present time, the reduced functionality of the site has been allowed to continue for over half a year. At your Board Meeting on April 10, please take whatever steps necessary to finally FIX THE PROBLEM and boot the Grinning Gator off our site!!

    A very concerned Susa-fan, LucyB

A previous meeting allotted $500 to get help for this problem, so i hope that is being done - any kind of update would be appreciated, to know it is being worked on - a big headache for all our unpaid team i know - but as LucyB says, it really does need to be resolved one way or another.

There's a Board meeting tomorrow so hopefully the problem will addressed and we'll get an update.

Judy was unable to attend the meeting today because of an unexpected funeral for a relative. We are in the process of trying to schedule another meeting in a week or two.

We do know that she is working on having the VBulletin software upgraded by VBulletin (we are paying for this), but it is taking awhile. The software has not been updated in a long time, and just as a heads up, the forum will have to be closed down when the upgrade occurs.

Thanks for the update, MG. I thought that it was upgraded several months ago when we were down for several days, and that's when the Gator moved in. So I wonder if another software update will fix all of the errors that happened at that time. I guess we'll find out.

The VBulletin software hasn't been upgraded in a long time, which is a big part of the problem.

Thanks again. Judy must have been doing something else the last time we were down for a few days, maybe that's when they were moving the forum from the dedicated server.

That is exactly when we moved from a dedicated server to a shared server. That is when the persistent Gator showed up which is believed to be related to the VBulletin software.

Thanks for replying Bubblegum, I thought that's when the Gator moved in.
I wonder if a lot of their customers are having similar issues and if it's their software that's the problem, why haven't they fixed it? It's amazing.
I guess there's a slim chance that the upgrade will help.
